Our taniwha mural

Last term we read some of the Maori legends about New Zealand.
We especially liked the one about Ngake and Whaitaitai, the taniwhas of Wellington Harbour so we decided to paint a mural about them.

First we painted the sea and sky.

Next we painted the land.

Then the taniwhas.

John screwed our mural up outside Room 14.

Doesn't it look fabulous!

We are all very proud of our mural.
If you want to read the story of our taniwhas go to.tki.org.nz/...Legends.../Ngake-and-Whataitai-

  4. Fabulous work Room 14. You should all go and see an exhibition at The New Dowse called "Myths Monsters and Magical Things" Alfie went in the school holidays. They have a painted wood carving there that is about the same Taniwha's by an artist called Cliff Whiting. It is called "Whanganui a Tara (Ngake and Whataitai)" I like yours better though!
