190 Day!!!!!!

 Today was our 190th day at school for the year.
Everyday of school this year we have put a 10 cent coin in a jar. Today we had 190 coins which meant $19.00.
It was time for us to do something with the money.

We decided it would be nice to use our money to bless someone else.


At Kmart they have a wishing tree where you can leave presents for kids who don't get much at Christmas.
We decided to use our money to buy a book to leave under the tree.


Room 10 had $19.00 in their jar too, so we went shopping together. Macy, Alfie, Liam and Mrs Bloomfield from Room 14. Bonnie, Kamirah, Riley and Mrs Geluk from Room 10.




We looked at lots of books before we decided.



Alfie quite liked the Alfie books!
 But in the end the girls decided on Goldilicous which Room 10 bought.


The boys chose The Waterhole which Room 14 bought.




The very nice lady at Paper Plus took all our 10 cent coins and counted them up.

 We read our book to check it was Ok. It was all about a waterhole and how important it is. It seemed a great book for us to give seeing we had been studying water this term.

We made some special wrapping paper to wrap our book in.
We hope our book makes someone very happy this Christmas.

Buddy Challenge!!!!

Yesterday we made Christmas trees with our buddy class, Room 5. We were divided into 8 groups with kids from each class in each group. Each group was given, 3 big sheets of grey paper, some small pieces of coloured paper, scissors, a glue stick and some tape.
These are the trees we made. Aren't they amazing!
Ms Cleland and Mrs Bloomfield are placing them around the school today. Come and see if you can find them?

180 Day!




 For 180 day we got lots of green bits of paper, we drew around our hands, and cut out 180 green hands.


 We counted them into piles of 10. We needed 18 piles of 10.  
We skip counted in tens to check we had enough. 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100, 110, 120, 130, 140, 150, 160, 170, 180.    18 X 10 = 180
 What did we do with 180 green hands?
We made a Christmas tree. It is looks fabulous but a bit bare. We'll have to make decorations next! After making our Christmas tree, we were wondering, why do we have Christmas trees anyway?
